Final Reflection

Wow. I can't believe this journey has come to an end. While working on this project I learned a lot. I learned about the process it takes to create a film opening, and honestly it’s a lot of work. I learned about developing storyboards, screenplays, shot lists and all the trial and error. I learned that not everything comes out the way you want it the first time. I had to reshoot the male parts as I didn’t like the way it came out the first time. I learned that editing it honestly is a hard skill to master. Especially audio. Lining everything up is really hard and I wish my idea was a little easier to edit. I’m not a strong editor so doing such an audio editing heavy film opening wasn’t the best idea. If I did this project again I would get a head start on filming and do less planning and research. I kind of waited til the last minute to get all the filming and editing done which resulted in a lot of stress for me. For next time, I could improve on my editing skills and would come up with a better idea. My film is pretty basic and uses a lot of the same shots as that’s what fits the genre. I could’ve challenged myself a little more in that area. Thank you guys so much for following my journey and I hope you enjoyed my final product. Bye!

Creative Critical Reflection

HIII! I'm so happy to share my two final CCR's!! I think my 2 ideas of a Hot Mess podcast and an AICE themed Game Show are original and fun. I'm happy with the way they turned out and I hope you guys like them too! I worked really hard on them.

Here's the Hot Mess Podcast ;)

Here's the AICE inspired Game Show :)

Film Opening!

Heyyy! I finally finished everything for the film opening and wanted to share it here. This took a lot of planning and hard work so I really hope you guys like it! This definitely wasn't an easy road but i've made the journey.

Here it is:

Process Update

Hiii! So now that we're back from break I have locked in on the project. Yesterday I re-filmed the male parts with Drew, who was originally suppose to be in the film. I decided I hated the way it looked with Mason in it and Drew was also able to give me a few tips.

We filmed in the same location that Lucy and Lily were in so it looks clean and like it was all filmed on the same day.

I started editing last night. It is going good the only thing I have left to add is the credits. I have to pick out a font and figure out exactly what I have to include. I can get that done quick tho. It's all due tomorrow so i've been buckling down. This due date really snuck up on me...

The CCR is also due tomorrow. I wrote out the script for what I will be doing. I plan on filming the Hot Mess Inspired podcast video today when I get home from school. It'll match the vibe i'm going for as my room is a mess and i'll be a mess after school. The other video I will be doing is a game-show type video. After practice today I plan on having my dad be the host and my sister and I be the participants.

I plan on editing all day tomorrow. I may stay home from school to get it all done. I really have to lock in and staying home would allow me to focus on that. Other than that I just have to do a reflection and i'm done.

I'm going to have my CCR script peer reviewed but here is what I have so far :)

Distribution Research

HIII! Now that the due date is coming close I need to finalize the ideas with the film. One of the things for the CCR is the ways on planning on distributing the film. This is one of the questions so I think it's a good idea to get my thoughts together and plan out for this questions.

Vimeo

One platform that could be very useful for a small film making to distribute their film is Vimeo. Vimeo is a posting sharing, and services platform provider based in NewYork. Vimeo Is a platform where I am able to post my film and have it out in the world for anyone to access. Millions of films have already been published there. Vimeo is best for allowing my film to be accessed globally.

Youtube

Youtube is an online video sharing and social media platform that is owned by Google. Youtube is a huge platform with billions of videos. There are thousands of films available on Youtube by big producers.  My film could become available next to films like Ghostbusters and Twilight. Youtube is one of the largest platforms which would allow for a potentially large amount of viewers.

Film Festivals

One last way I could distribute my film is at small local film festivals. It would give my film a chance to reach people who are also making films or are interested in small productions. Many film makers have become successful through film festivals and have won many awards. This is something I could do if I so choose.

CCR Inspo!

Hiiii! I've been thinking a lot recently about the creative critical reflection as it's a HUGE part of the AICE exam. I was watching one of my favorite podcasts Hot Mess by Alix Earle and I got the idea of using that as my incorporation for one of the 2 types of media products.

The podcast is very causal which is one of the reasons it's so popular. Viewers feel like they're talking to a friend and getting to know Alix on a personal level. Alix is relaxed in the videos and just shows her personality. I feel like this is something I could do for one of my CCR.

Here is the episode of Hot Mess that I was watching when I got the idea:)

For my CCR I could answer 2/4 of the questions on my own podcast similar to Alix's. I would have to come up with a name though... I could be sitting in my room like she does. I wouldn't clean it or get ready to film so it would feel intimate. I would talk as if i'm talking to a friend and not to a camera screen. I could insert clips of what i'm speaking about every once in a while to add in visual interest.

I really like this idea because I really like this podcast, but I don't know if doing this would give me the best grade. BUT, I am going to work hard to try and make it work because of how much I like the idea. I now have to work on actually answering the questions and coming up with another idea...

Target Audience

HIIIII! I realized that I never really got the chance to define my target audience so I figured i'd take this time on break to do it. :) Typically, a romantic comedy film's target audience is females and the age depends on the movie and it's rating. (Some romantic comedy's are rated R, so they wouldn't have a teenage target audience.) Three's Company is based on a high school love triangle, so the target audience would mainly be towards females ages 12-22. Here is an example of what a typical member of my target audience would be:

As a secondary target males within the same age range of 12-22 would be the target as there is a male protagonist and male aspects throughout the film, although the female aspects would be more dominant.

Final Reflection

Wow. I can't believe this journey has come to an end. While working on this project I learned a lot. I learned about the process it...
